Taylor Swift Coaches The Voice Contestant on Ex John Mayer’s Song: Watch

Case of the ex! Taylor Swift found herself in a bit of an awkward situation on Monday, Nov. 3, when she served as an advisor on The Voice

The “Shake It Off” singer, 24, worked with Adam Levine to coach contestant Blessing Offor and was faced with an unintentional reminder of her past.

Offor informed the stars that he would be performing the 2002 hit “Your Body Is a Wonderland” — a song recorded by Swift’s ex-boyfriend John Mayer

Swift briefly dated Mayer in 2010 and seemingly referenced their relationship in her 2010 breakup single “Dear John” off of her chart-topping Speak Now album. She kept her composure as she worked with the performing hopeful, giving him tips on his performance.

“That’s an interesting choice,” Levine, 35, said simply when Offor named his song of choice. Swift was then shown grooving along as the Voice contestant rehearsed, commenting on his rendition before reaching in for a hug.

The country-turned-pop crooner had some experience with the track, as she once performed it herself. Swift brought Mayer out as a special guest during a 2009 concert at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, and the two singers did a duet to the single, which Mayer reportedly penned about another ex, Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Swift had another ex-boyfriend reference during Monday’s show, when she was working with contestant Taylor Brashears. After Swift complimented Brashears on her stage presence, she responded, “I just put all my ex-boyfriends in the audience.” Swift shot back, “Oh, I do that all the time.”
