Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy's children "have a special relationship" since the two actresses starred together in The Heat.

Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock had never met before they were cast as costars in the upcoming buddy cop comedy The Heat, but they quickly became very good pals both on and off the set. And it wasn't long before their kids followed suit.

In an interview with E! News at MTV's Sneak Peek Week on April 11, McCarthy, 42, gushed that her daughters had really bonded with Bullock's son Louis, 3. (The Bridesmaids actress has two girls, Vivian, 5, and Georgette, 3, with husband Ben Falcone.)

"Louis was my Georgie's first friend her own age," the Identity Thief star said. "And all three of our kids, my two kids and her boy, they still play together. They have a special relationship."

The comedienne added that Louis — whom Bullock adopted in 2010 — had become something of a little bodyguard for her daughters. "[He's] very protective of both girls," she explained. "He literally does the straight arm and pushes you away and puts his hands up and backs the girls up."

"You're not going to want to mess with Louis," she quipped. "He's a tough cookie."

The same could be said of his mom. McCarthy told E! that one of the reasons she liked Bullock so much when they first met (via a phone call) was that she seemed able to handle whatever was thrown her way.

"The first time I talked to her on the phone, I thought, I kind of love her, like, I hope this isn't going to take a weird change. We had a weird thing where no matter what I said to her, I knew she didn't take it personally and she'd throw it back," she said of the Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close actress.

"We've become quite good friends," McCarthy continued. "I think there's no working that — either you hit it off like that or you don't. And we just happened to. Which made [filming] so ridiculously fun!"
