Porsha Stewart is fighting back. A week after husband Kordell Stewart blindsided her by filing for divorce, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 31, submitted her own divorce papers via her attorney, TMZ reports. In the documents, according to TMZ, the Bravo starlet seeks alimony as well as use of their Atlanta mansion. In his original filing, Kordell, 40, had claimed his wife of less than two years didn't need spousal support and could earn her own living.
But, her attorney argues, Porsha stalled her own career for her husband, quitting her job and apparently selling her businesses in order to be a wife and take care of his son from a previous relationship, TMZ reports — and thus seeks alimony.
"Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her," Porsha's rep told Us Weekly on Tuesday after new broke of the split. "Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media."
"She felt like a prisoner," one friend told Us of the marriage. Added another confidante: "Her whole identity is about being a happy, obedient wife. The other women [on RHOA] criticized her for not having a backbone but she was like, 'A real marriage is about honoring your man, your king.' She is really upset."
