Jordin Sparks Throws Shade at Ex Jason Derulo in “How Bout Now (Remix)”: Listen Now!

Her turn! Jordin Sparks may have been coy about her split from boyfriend Jason Derulo back in September, but that doesn’t mean she sat quietly in the studio. The American Idol alum has blasted the R&B singer in her latest song “How Bout Now (Remix),” even referencing the neck injury he suffered in 2012.

Sparks teased the new tune with her collaborators, The L.A. Leakers, on Monday, Nov. 24. The remix will be featured on her upcoming mixtape #BYEFELICIA. (“Bye Felicia” is a quote from the movie Friday, and has come to be defined as when a person says they’re leaving and you could care less.)

“Feeling like I have to get all of this off my chest / I know you are sitting there thinking ‘What is she going to do next?'” Sparks, 24, sings. “Remember I deleted all my other guys’ numbers out my phone for ya? / Remember when you broke your neck and I had to wash your back for ya? You probably don’t remember half of the s–t that I did for ya.”

Us confirmed on Sept. 25 that Sparks and Derulo, 25, broke up after three years together. In the aftermath, Derulo said during a taping of On Air with Ryan Seacrest that the exes weren’t on good terms; he also denied rumors that he cheated. Sparks, for her part, was more reserved in her post split-interviews.

“I’m good, actually,” she said to Today’s Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford on Sept. 29. “I read this quote [yesterday], and it said, ‘When something unexpected happens in your life, or you think something bad happens, just say ‘Plot twist!’ and move on.'”

As for now? She appears excited to explain her side of the story. “It has to be perfect before I can let it out,” Sparks said before introducing the track online Monday. “Life is too short. I think that people will be able to relate to that.”
