From costars to couple? Not so fast. The East's Alexander Skarsgard and Ellen Page ramped up romance rumors over the weekend when director Zal Batmanglij tweeted a photo of the pair sharing a warm embrace on Saturday, June 8. The picture features Skarsgard draping his right arm over Page's shoulder and giving her a kiss on the head. "This reminds me of shooting," Batmanglij wrote in the caption.
Page, 26, retweeted the picture of herself and Skarsgard, 36, and poked fun at their matching denim on denim ensembles. "Canadian tuxedo party," the actress joked.
Despite internet speculation, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that the actors are not dating in real life. It's also unclear when the picture in question was taken.
This isn't the first time Skarsgard and Page have been romantically linked. When the actors attended Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals in June 2012, several media outlets suggested the two were an item. "They're just two hockey fans," a source explained to Us at the time.
Skarsgard previously dated his True Blood costar Evan Rachel Wood and his Straw Dogs costar Kate Bosworth. Though he briefly romanced model Anne V last summer, a source tells Us the Swedish star is currently single.
