In December 2012, Eddie Cibrian told Us Weekly he had no interest in publicly bashing his ex-wife Brandi Glanville — and he’s kept true to his word. But on Jan. 23, scandal arose when an imposter claiming to be the Playboy Club actor made a jab at the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star via Instagram.
In the image, Cibrian and his second wife, LeAnn Rimes — with whom he had a marriage-ending affair in 2009 — appear bleary-eyed while taking shots of alcohol. “Drinking and Instagramming, what?” the 39-year-old father of two wrote in the caption. “My new book title.” It was meant to be a clear dig at Glanville, whose tell-all book, Drinking and Tweeting: And Other Brandi Blunders, is slated for release Feb. 12; Us Weekly published exclusive excerpts in its Feb. 11 issue.
The Cibrian imposter’s Instagram account was later deleted, and Rimes, 30, also denied the image was uploaded by her husband. “Since he didn’t tweet that and that was over two years ago, it’s the other way around,” she wrote on the social networking site Feb. 6. A rep for Rimes tells Us, “Eddie has never had an Instragram account. This is an imposter and we are taking the necessary steps to shut it down. The postings are bogus.”
Cibrian addressed the incident in a statement to Us, saying, “It appears that someone created an unauthorized and fake Instagram account under my name and made false posts as well. Everyone who knows me knows I do not or have ever had an Instagram account.”
In Glanville’s book, the 40-year-old model doesn’t mince her words when it comes to Rimes, whom she describes as “washed up,” “Eddie’s future ex,” “what’s-her-face” and “f-cking ruthless.”
Glanville — mom to sons Mason, 9, and Jake, 5, with Cibrian — also details how she found out about her husband’s infidelity. After a text alerted her to to a story on Perez Hilton’s blog alleging a Cibrian-Rimes affair, Glanville confronted the former Ugly Betty star. “I’m not entirely sure who I ended up on the floor of my closet sobbing. A teary-eyed Eddie found me lying there minutes later, and without a word, he started kissing me all over,” Glanville writes. “He pulled off my workout pants and we started having sex right there. He swore up and down my body that it wasn’t true. In that moment, it was easier to believe him, because I just couldn’t stand the thought of being without him.”
She wasn’t able to ignore the evidence for long, however. After returning home from a weekend trip in the Caribbean, she watched Us‘ surveillance footage from the restaurant where Cibrian and Rimes had dinner. “The video captured intimate moments of my husband with the other woman: kissing one another, licking and sucking on one another’s fingers,” Glanville writes. “Eddie had absolutely nothing to say. He just looked at me with pain in his eyes. I don’t think Eddie regrets much in his life, but in that moment, I knew he regretted the pain he was causing me. But more important, he regretted getting caught.”
