Giuliana Rancic has had a roller coaster of a year — from overcoming breast cancer to welcoming son Edward Duke — and to cap it off, the E! News anchor and star of Style’s Giuliana & Bill is planning to go big to celebrate Duke’s very first birthday on August 29. “It’ll be a blowout,” the busy mom hints to Us Weekly in an exclusive video interview conducted five weeks before her son’s big day.
Considering inviting 100 of the couple’s closest family members and friends, Giuliana — who threw a gender reveal baby shower, taped for Giuliana & Bill, on Father’s Day in 2012 — is hard at work coming up with a theme.
“He’s half Italian, so maybe we’ll do an Italian theme. That’d be cute,” Giuliana, 38, shares, while conferring with husband Bill, 41. “It’ll be like The Godfather,” she tells Us, referring to the 1972 film that follows a New York City-based Italian family with Mafia ties. “That’s a good idea. Can you imagine the suit and the hat?! Could you die?!”
Bill, however, isn’t as convinced on letting his wife proceed as planned, even though the couple did go all-out in their own over-the-top wedding soiree on the Italian island of Capri in 2007. “That’s good role model, someone to look up to: [crime boss] Michael Corleone!” he jokes of the character portrayed by Al Pacino. “It is not a good idea!”
