Prior to her suicide, Gia Allemand was "fighting a lot" with boyfriend Ryan Anderson

As Gia Allemand‘s friends and family gather on Wednesday, Aug. 21, to mourn the late Bachelor star at a wake in her hometown of Queens, N.Y., the question on everyone’s minds is still: What was going through her head when she took her own life? Allemand’s smile hid her distress, but as sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly, she was struggling with a lot of things — namely, her relationship with boyfriend Ryan Anderson, an NBA player with the New Orleans Pelicans.

One insider says the couple of two-and-a-half years clashed over their disparate visions of the future. Allemand, 29 at the time of her death, wanted to get married and have a family, the source tells Us, but Anderson, 25, “wasn’t ready to commit.” As a result, the two argued constantly.

“He started breakup talks,” the source says of the athlete, whom Allemand once described to Us as the One. “They were fighting a lot.”

Incidentally, it was Anderson who found the Bachelor Pad alum hanging in her New Orleans home on Monday, Aug. 12. As previously reported, he attempted to revive her until medical personnel arrived on the scene to take her to University Hospital, New Orleans, where she remained on life support until Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Speaking about Allemand in a statement just hours after her death, Anderson said he was “deeply grateful” for the love and support he had received. “Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile,” he noted.

“She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed,” he continued. “All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith, and love that we shared.”
