Newcomers in the industry could certainly have worse role models than Taylor Swift.
The country superstar somehow manages to balance a hugely successful career with keeping a girl next-door image. And romantic life aside, she doesn't become tabloid fodder getting caught out at the clubs, a la a certain someone who just got out of 90-days of court ordered rehab
Austin Mahone received the Breakout Artist Award at the Young Hollywood Awards on Thursday, and fresh from opening on Swift's "Red" tour, he shared some advice the country singer gave him.
"She always tells me to stay the kid that I was when I was starting out on YouTube," the 17-eary-old singer told omg!. "She is so great. She's super talented and always puts on a good show. I learned a lot from her."
Mahone explained that Taylor, 23, was like a big sister to him.
"She's so nice," he revealed. "People probably don't know how real and extremely down to earth she is. She's one of the sweetest girls I've ever met."
Austin performed his hit single "What About Love" at the YHA's yesterday, giving a very energetic performance for an adoring crowd.
In the audience was Taylor's BFF Selena Gomez, who was spotted hanging out at Disneyland with him in June. Reports the two were romantically involved were squashed at the time, but Austin cleared things up yesterday just in case.
"No, no," he laughed. "We're friends. She's really cool, super sweet."
The kid learns fast! That's definitely a Swift-like response.
