Krysten Ritter has moved out of apartment 23 and on to bigger and better things! The talented actress is appearing in Big Eyes, the story of painter Margaret Keane (Amy Adams), and her bitter divorce from her husband Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), who claimed profits from her work. Ritter, who plays Margaret’s friend DeAnn in the film, out Dec. 25, visited HuffPost Live on Dec. 15 and revealed that her “fandom” for Big Eyes director Tim Burton almost got the best of her during shooting.
“It’s really exciting to be in a Tim Burton movie…,” the actress said. “I’m kinda overwhelmed by it all.”

Ritter, 33, who played the titular character in ABC’s Don’t Trust the B—— in Apartment 23 from 2012 to 2013, said her admiration for Burton started at a young age.
“I think he likes a certain aesthetic,” she said. “I also just gravitate towards his stories and movies, and I watched them as a little kid, because he was always making movies about an outcast or somebody that was different.”
Ritter even dressed up as Michael Keaton’s devious ghost Beetlejuice, from Burton’s 1988 cult classic, for Halloween as a child.
“When I was growing up in my house we were very into Halloween, and Warner Brothers had this catalogue with just really, really intricately designed, accurate masks. I was Bugs Bunny, and then I was Beetlejuice.”
While Ritter tried to keep her “fandom at bay” around Burton, she was also in awe of costars Adams and Waltz.
“I was definitely observing [Adams],” the brunette said of her time on set with the Oscar nominee. “I would even be observing how she carries herself, what she does between takes to stay in character.”
Ritter, who was just announced as the lead in Netflix’s forthcoming Marvel series A.K.A. Jessica Jones, said that while Adams’ performance is “subtle,” Waltz goes all out.
“Christoph is fantastic, he’s so good at playing maniacal, but likable somehow,” she said. “He’s so charismatic.”
