Gia Allemand Dead: Boyfriend Ryan Anderson Found Her After Suicide Attempt

Gia Allemand died Aug. 14 after boyfriend of two-and-a-half years Ryan Anderson found her in her New Orleans home after an apparent suicide attempt on Aug. 12.

Ryan Anderson is mourning the loss of girlfriend Gia Allemand, who died Wednesday, Aug. 14 after committing suicide. The 29-year-old Bachelor and Bachelor Pad contestant was found in her New Orleans home on Monday, Aug. 12 by her longtime love.

According to an official statement made by Allemand's family on Wednesday, the 25-year-old New Orleans Pelicans NBA player immediately called 911. "Tuesday, Ms. Allemand remained in the hospital unconscious in critical condition and on life support," the statement read. "Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today. Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites."

Allemand met Anderson after appearing on 2010's season 14 of The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka, where she was eliminated from the final three.

In an interview with Us Weekly in August 2011, Allemand said she met Anderson while doing a photo shoot in the Bahamas in February that year. "We ended up hanging out every minute I was able to when I wasn't working," she said. The model then relocated to Florida for work. "Not only was it love at first sight but it seemed like a touch of destiny. We now both live in Orlando and couldn't be happier," she told Us at the time. "I think I finally found the one!"

At the time of her death, Allemand was living in New Orleans, where Anderson played with the Pelicans.

"Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile," he said in statement after her death. "She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed," he continued. "All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith, and love that we shared."
