Don't mess with Martha Stewart! The TV veteran slammed Apple during a Twitter rant about her broken iPad on Thursday, Sept. 26. A second possible reason for the exaggerated outburst? The iPad was a gift from the late Steve Jobs!
"I just dropped my iPad on the ground and shattered two glass corners. What to do? Does one call Apple to come and pick it up or do I take it?" the 72-year-old TV personality wrote to her 2.8 million followers. "I am still waiting for an apple rep to come pick up my IPad. No action yet."
She continued: "Maybe I have had a good entrepreneurial idea? Apple Now? Like same day delivery from Amazon? I think I am on to something. Same day fixit!!!" With no response, she later added that Apple didn't appreciate the negative comments. "I cannot believe that Apple Public Relations is mad at me for tweeting about my Ipad and how to get it fixed! steve jobs gave it to me!" she wrote.
Stewart may have been annoyed, but she called in to the Today show the following day to clear the air. "I'm not having a feud with Apple," she told co-hosts Willie Geist, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie on Friday. "Twitter is very, very interesting because there are people who love it when you joke, and there are people who take you seriously and don't have a clue," she said.
One group of folks in particular didn't appreciate the tweets: her own staff! Stewart admitted that her team was initially upset with her for possibly jeopardizing her working relationship with the company.
The iPad in question (that's still not fixed!) was given to Stewart by the late Apple creator Steve Jobs. She also noted to the Today staff that she still has the personal card Jobs enclosed with the gift.
