Surprise! Fans of Dancing With the Stars may have noticed on Wednesday, Sept. 4, that Anna Trebunskaya's name was missing from the newly revealed season 17 cast list. Now, Us Weekly can exclusively reveal the reason: The veteran DWTS pro, 32, is pregnant with her first child!
"It wasn't planned, but when it happened, I thought, 'This is perfect — I'm ready to be a mom,'" Trebunskaya shares in the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands Friday. "This is something really good for me and fulfilling, and it'll give me a whole new meaning in life. I'm really looking forward to it."
The Russian dancer has chosen not to name the father of her baby-to-be, but she describes him as "very supportive." And he's not the only one. "My mom is so excited she's going to be a grandmother," she gushes.
Trebunskaya, now four months along, says she found out about the pregnancy at the end of the last season of Dancing With the Stars. But she had a hunch that something big was going to happen for a while before that.
"It was interesting because in the last six to eight months, I was saying to my friends, 'I'm ready for a change. I feel a change coming on,'" she tells Us. "And sure enough, this is going to be one huge change!"
The two-time DWTS runner-up is "beyond happy" about the news, but she admits to being "bummed" about not being able to compete on the upcoming season of ABC's hit dance competition. (In the past, Trebunskaya has been partnered with Jerry Rice, Evan Lysacek, and Drew Lachey, among others.)
"I love being the show, and I'll miss it a lot, but I'll still be around visiting," she tells Us. "I'll be their biggest cheerleader."
And after the pregnancy? "I'm looking forward to getting back into shape and dancing and bringing the baby on board into the DWTS family!" she says.
