Charlie Sheen wants what's best for his kids — and for now, at least, that means ex-wife Denise Richards. As Us Weekly previously reported, the Anger Management star's twin boys, 4-year-old Max and Bob, have been placed under Richards' care after being removed from the home of their mother (and Sheen's third ex-wife), Brooke Mueller.
"Charlie supports the actions of the Department of Children and Family Services," the actor's rep said in a statement on May 3, adding that Sheen would "fully cooperate and fully participate" in any future proceedings. "He knows Max and Bob are safe in a stable, loving environment with Denise and the boys' sisters."
Indeed, a source told Us Weekly that the Two and a Half Men alum is "truly grateful that [Denise] is here for the kids."
"They've been under her care many times before," the insider explained. "This isn't unusual. Truthfully, Denise and [her daughters] are the only consistency those poor kids have had." (Both Mueller, 35, and Sheen, 47, have struggled with drug and alcohol abuse over the years.)
Richards, who has spoken of her affection for her ex's twins before, "would never say no" to helping them out, the source added, noting that the actress' daughters, Sam, 9, Lola, 7, and Eloise, 22 months, love their brothers. "[The boys are] their family, and Denise would do anything for them."
Echoed another insider: "Everyone agrees that [giving the twins to her] was the best decision. Denise is a phenomenal mother and she loves those boys like her own."
