Casey Kasem's kids are bringing their family feud to court. The 81-year-old legendary radio host's children Kerri, Julie and Mike filed for conservatorship on Monday, Oct. 7, in an effort to gain control of their father from stepmom Jean. Kasem is suffering from advanced Parkinson's disease and his kids and family members claim they haven't been allowed to visit him for several months at his Holmby Hills, Calif. home.
The kids filed for Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and a Healthcare Conservatorship over Kasem with the Los Angeles Superior Court in downtown L.A. They only filed for conservatorship over their father himself and not his estate.
Kerri recently exclusively told Us Weekly that she and her siblings were planning to file for conservatorship if Jean continued to keep them out of their father's life. She and her siblings staged a protest outside their father's home on Oct. 1, but when that didn't work, they hired a lawyer to negotiate with Jean.
"It's been really difficult, but I am hoping she comes out and says, you know, 'I'm sorry. Of course you can see your dad,'" Kerri told Us. "But we've heard nothing from her. Nothing. So our next step is legal action."
Kerri and her brother and sister simply want to be able to see their father again. "We love my father and my father loves us," Kerri said. "We don't want his money, we don't want his estate, we don't want anything from her. All we want is to see our dad . . . We just want to see our dad and to love him and take care of him before he dies."
