Robin Thicke explained to Oprah Winfrey that he doesn't twerk since he's just the "twerkee."

While Miley Cyrus has been busy twerking up a storm and leaving fans atwitter with her oft-pantsless antics, Robin Thicke is trying to distance himself from the dance form that the “We Can’t Stop” singer loves so much.

“People ask me if I twerk, and I’m like, Listen, I’m the twerkee. I don’t twerk,” the “Blurred Lines” singer told Oprah Winfrey in a recent interview. “I’m just twerked upon.”

On Sunday, Aug. 25, the musical pair made history after they performed a mash-up of their two summer jams at the MTV VMAs that took an obscene turn when Cyrus, 20, began to grind up on the married singer’s “cajones,” as Winfrey put it.

“This is funny to me, it’s silly,” Thicke, 36, said of the backlash that followed their performance.

Oprah Winfrey chatted with Robin Thicke about his life with with Paula and son Julian, 3, in addition to grilling him about his controversial MTV VMA performance this past August.

“You don’t think of it as sexual?” Winfrey asked. During the latter half of Thicke’s performance, Cyrus — in a flesh-toned latex bikini top and shorts — danced provocatively around Thicke, even backing her bum up into the singer’s crotch at one point.

“Well, I was onstage, [so] I didn’t see it,” Thicke said. “So to me, I’m walking out toward Miley, I’m not thinking sex, I’m thinking fun. …I’m singing my butt off. I’m singing and I’m looking at the sky and I’m singing and I’m not really paying attention to all that. That’s on her.”

Thicke, who is father to son Julian, 3, with wife of eight years Paula Patton, added that even though he himself didn’t bust a move onstage, his intent in doing the performance was to give audiences something to “talk” about.

“I spent my whole career playing it safe, being a gentleman, never doing anything controversial,” he told the November issue of Vanity Fair. “They told me [beforehand] that Miley’s going to take her clothes off and dance around and she might bend over … I just said, ‘I don’t care, let’s entertain the people.'”

“Let’s give them something they’re not ready for, let’s make them talk,” he concluded.
