The Twitterverse just got a little bigger! On Tuesday, Aug. 20, actress and self-proclaimed social-networking neophyte Drew Barrymore broke down and got herself a Twitter account.
"Late to the party, but happy to be here!" she wrote in her inaugural post on the micro-blogging site. "140 characters should keep me from rambling…someone told me it doesn't all have to fit in 1 tweet."
Joining Twitter is a big deal for the Big Miracle actress, 38, who once claimed she was an "old-fashioned girl" and had no interest in joining the site. "I know I'm an anomaly, I know everyone else is in love with it, but it's not for me," she said in a 2010 radio interview.
Clearly she's had a change of heart. And her fans couldn't be happier — within just a few hours of joining Twitter, Barrymore had more than 6,000 followers.
