Speaking about Lindsay Lohan's latest attempt to get her act together, Oprah Winfrey says she's cautiously optimistic

Lindsay Lohan has tried before to get her act together, but Oprah Winfrey is hopeful that this time will be different — meaning, successful. Speaking about the 27-year-old starlet in an interview with the TODAY show's Al Roker, the OWN media mogul said she's cautiously optimistic about Lohan's recovery.

"All I can say about it is this: I believe that she believes that she is ready to move forward in her life," Winfrey told Roker. "And we'll see."

The Butler star noted that she would offer her "advice and counsel" to Lohan if she wanted it, and said she had texted the Mean Girls alum "a couple of times" since interviewing her for an upcoming episode of Oprah's Next Chapter. "I'm anxious to see whether or not this young woman, who is a really, really fine actress, will be able to allow us into her life and let us see the trajectory of trying to put the pieces back together," Winfrey said.

"When the Oprah show was first syndicated, and all of a sudden I'm in the tabloids and people are saying things about me that aren't true…I didn't know what to do," she continued. "But I had the good sense to rely on people who'd been before me."

Winfrey hopes the Canyons actress will do the same. And in fact, Lohan seems to already be heeding the OWN CEO's advice. "She is doing everything Oprah tells her to do," a source told Us Weekly.

Case in point? Lohan's canceled trip to Europe. "At the end of the interview, I said to her, 'Look, I have some concerns 'cause I hear you're going to Europe. And I just came from Europe, and Europe is the place to go when you want to feel really good and relax. It's very hard to go to Capri and not have a Bellini," Winfrey joked on Good Morning America.

"I was saying, if I were you I would think about it. So she texted me and said, 'Yes, I will think about it. But, look, I've already paid for it.' And then I just heard this morning she's decided not to go," the 59-year-old talk show titan continued. "Isn't that good, that she's decided to stay here and work on herself? I'm so proud of her for that decision."
