Taryn Manning stepped out on Nov. 25 looking more like the White Queen from Alice in Wonderland than the backwoods meth addict-turned-holy woman she plays on Orange Is the New Black. The 35-year-old actress, who plays antagonist Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett on the Netflix smash, hit the red carpet at the 41st International Emmy Awards rocking a bright platinum wig.
A source told Us, "Taryn felt like trying something new and decided to wear a wig last night." Another source added, "Taryn just wore the wig to be a goof. But she can't wait to be blonde again."
The shocking transformation made the star practically unrecognizable. She paired her new 'do with an emerald green gown, red clutch, and dark makeup, making the contrast even more drastic. Manning attended the event with fellow Orange Is the New Black cast members Danielle Brooks (Taystee) and Jackie Cruz (Flaca).
On the show, Pennsatucky has stringy brown hair and rotting teeth — the result of years of meth use — so chances are, fans of the Netflix series may not have even recognized the star with her bold new look.
Manning's OITNB character played a central part in the season 1 finale. She will return for the show's second season, which is set to be released on Netflix sometime in 2014.
