The police are still investigating Detective Darren Wilden’s mysterious murder, and in the July 8 episode of Pretty Little Liars, Ashley Marin (Laura Leighton) seeks advice from her friend and attorney, Veronica Hastings (Lesley Fera). The two agree to meet at Veronica’s home because, as Ashley reveals, “I didn’t want anyone seeing me come to your office.”
Veronica cuts to the chase, asking her friend, “Ashley, what did you come here to talk to me about?” After confirming Veronica’s suspicion that it’s in regards to the detective’s death, Ashley says, “I want to tell you my side of the story. . . unless you think you already know.”
“I’ve heard some rumors,” Veronica admits. “Look, I have to ask this as a formality: Are you talking to me as your friend or as your lawyer?”
“Hopefully both,” Ashley replies. “I think the police are building a case against me.” Veronica says she’ll look into it and speak to her contact at the Rosewood Police Department. “Veronica, I have some skeletons in my closet,” Ashley reveals. “I just didn’t want you to be surprised.”
“Nothing surprises me anymore,” Veronica reassures her.
