A proposal, a separation, and a crumbling marriage. 2013 might have been the Kardashians’ most dramatic year — and that’s saying something! In the promo for season 9 of their E! show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the reality TV moguls don’t hold anything back.
The short clip features the heartbreaking moment when Kris and Bruce Jenner sit their children down to tell them that they’re separating after 22 years of marriage.
“We’re better as friends than we are the other way,” Kris explains to her children.
“Then why are you still married?!” a tearful Kendall Jenner exclaims.
And the subject matter goes from bad to worse when Khloe Kardashian‘s marriage to Lamar Odom begins to crumble. Allegations of the NBA player’s drug use and cheating came out earlier this year, leaving Khloe at a loss for what to do.
In the promo, Lamar calls Kourtney Kardashian in a desperate attempt to get the Kardashian family to welcome him back.
“I would do anything to be accepted back by you guys,” he said. “You guys are all I’ve got.”
But the whole season won’t be tears and heartbreak. In the final moments of the clip, fans get the first official look at Kanye West‘s epic October proposal to Kim Kardashian.
The cameras caught West getting down on one knee with an uncharacteristically large grin to offer his future bride her gigantic Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring.
West proposed on Kardashian’s 33rd birthday at San Francisco’s AT&T Park with a live orchestra and scoreboard that read “Pleeease Marry Meee!!!”
