Ageless Boss! Bruce Springsteen is looking better than ever as he celebrates his 64th birthday. The “Born to Run” singer showed off his impressive beach body at Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday, Sept. 20.
Springsteen was spotted walking shirtless along the beach wearing only bright orange swim trunks. The New Jersey native, who turned 64 on Monday, Sept. 23, looked tan and toned while going for a swim in the water.
How does he stay in such great shape? Continuing to tour doesn’t hurt! Springsteen was in Brazil over the weekend to perform with his E Street Band at the Rock in Rio Festival. In a July 2012 interview with The New Yorker, Springsteen said he has to be in good health to keep up with his shows. “Think of it this way: performing is like sprinting while screaming for three, four minutes,” he said said. “And then you do it again. And then you do it again. And then you walk a little, shouting the whole time. And so on. Your adrenaline quickly overwhelms your conditioning.”
The rocker’s childhood friend, Steve Van Zandt, also told The New Yorker that Springsteen “never did drugs” and has followed the same exercise program — running on a treadmill and lifting weights with a trainer — for thirty years.
Zandt told the magazine at the time, “He has practically the same waist size as when I met him, when we were fifteen.”
