Dottie and Doris, together again! Jimmy Fallon‘s Saved by the Bell sketch wasn’t the only cast reunion this week. ABC’s The View also played host to a special get-together — between co-host Rosie O’Donnell and her A League of Their Own costar Geena Davis.
Davis, now 59, stopped by The View on Thursday, Feb. 5, to chat about her new role on Grey’s Anatomy. While there, she posed for a photo with her former Rockford Peaches teammate O’Donnell.
“We love this #TBT – @Rosie and Geena Davis,” The View captioned the pic on Instagram, which showed the former cast mates posing with two baseballs.
A League of Their Own — released in 1992 — starred Davis as Dottie Hinson, a standout catcher in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II. O’Donnell, 52, played third baseman Doris Murphy.
The beloved film also featured several other big names, including Tom Hanks (as coach Jimmy Dugan) and none other than Madonna (as center fielder Mae Mordabito). Her song “This Used to Be My Playground” served as the theme for the movie, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1992.
“It totally surprised me,” Davis told Parade in 2012 of the movie’s lasting impact. “I certainly hoped people would like it and that it would be successful, but the success we had at the box office was a really big deal back then. Even today, lots of 15-year-old girls will tell me, ‘I play sports because of that movie.’ It’s fantastic.”
