Definite fashion risk!
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Jaws, Rihanna signed herself up for an afternoon of swimming in a tank swarming with sharks — no, for real — at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, for Harper’s Bazaar‘s March 2015 issue.
On the cover, the fashion-obsessed singer, 26, went ’70s glam in a shimmering bronze jumpsuit with gaping side cutouts, designed by her close friend and Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing.
A big Jaws fan, Rihanna was all game — being both intrigued and frightened by the 1970s classic as a child.
“It freaked me out because I was a beach baby so every time a new Jaws came out I would take months off from the beach or just sit on the sand,” she explained. “If I happened to get in the water, my dad would hum the theme music, and I was right back out of it. But that was really my fault because I was obsessed with Jaws.”
She also said she prefers to leave the sharks on set. “I try my best to avoid the sharks of life, but I have had my share of experiences with them, and in those cases I just have to handle them accordingly,” she said. “But I do not swim with sharks … sharks swim with sharks.”
In anticipation of her performance with Kanye West and Paul McCartney at the 2015 Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 8, she broke down her favorite red-carpet looks over the years.
“My favorite red-carpet looks are usually the ones I get to help design: the Adam Selman Swarovski crystal dress at the CFDAs, the Stella McCartney all-white dress at the Met Gala, and the Adam Selman white jersey dress from the VMAs,” she said. “But the red Azzedine Alaïa at the Grammys is also one of my favorites.”
