Add Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes to the list of platonic pairs in Hollywood. On Tuesday, Oct. 15, amid rumors that the Django Unchained actor, 45, has been dating the Romantics actress, 34, Foxx spoke with Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell to set the record straight.
"[The rumors] are 100 percent not true," the Oscar winner (for 2004's Ray) told O'Dell. "In fact, it's quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event along with a lot of other people."
The "Winner" singer was referring to the 4th annual Apollo in the Hamptons benefit in East Hampton, N.Y., on Saturday, Aug. 24. As previously reported, Holmes and Foxx — along with pals including Ellen DeGeneres and Pharrell — rocked out to hits like Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines."
A Holmes pal told Us Weekly at the time that the two "weren't flirting and have been friends a long time." But Foxx may have wanted more. One eyewitness said the actor "grabbed her butt and tried to seal the deal" after a dance — to no avail.
"She was flattered, but not interested," the observer told Us of the Mania Days actress, mom to daughter Suri, 7, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, who costarred with Foxx in 2004's Collateral.
