Kate Gosselin has filed a lawsuit against ex-husband Jon Gosselin and his business partner

For those of you who thought Kate and Jon Gosselin were on friendly terms for the sake of their eight children, guess again.

Kate, the former star of the TLC network's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and "Kate Plus 8," filed a lawsuit on Monday in Philadelphia against former husband Jon and his business partner, Robert Hoffman, claiming they illegally acquired data to publish a defamatory book about her. The Associated Press confirmed the existence of the lawsuit Monday afternoon.

In the court documents, first obtained and published by the website Bullyville.com, Kate asserts that Jon and Robert conspired together to steal personal information for his tabloid book "Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled The World." She claims that Jon logged in to her password protected e-mail account, accessed her online banking accounts and her cellphone, all without authorization. Additionally, she alleges he stole a hard drive from her house that contained confidential material.

Kate, 38, claims that at one point, Hoffman publicly bragged about being in possession of 5,000 family photos, personal documents, tax and business records, and contracts of hers. She claims that Hoffman knew he was committing illegal activity "and at one point even told Radar Online: 'I'll be sued by one of more parties before this is over.'"

She goes on to detail in the lawsuit how Hoffman claimed that he obtained this data by digging through trash on the street found outside of Kate's house. However, the lawsuit points out that he knew the materials were obtained illegally, as the information "could not possibly be physically found in paper format."

The mother of eight also notes that Amazon.com pulled Hoffman's book just two days after it was published, partially due to the fact that it relied on false information.

Kate is asking for compensatory damages, punitive damages, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees and costs, declaratory and injunctive relief, and actual damages in her prayer for relief.

Omg! has reached out to a Jon Gosselin's most recently listed manager for comment, but hasn't yet heard back.
