We wouldn’t expect anything less. Gwyneth Paltrow and “best friend” Stella McCartney know a thing or two about how to throw a stylish shindig, and the pair recently organized “an English garden party” to celebrate the launch of their collaboration, Stella McCartney x Goop. The posh party appears to be held at a home in the Hamptons.
In a video that Paltrow posted on her lifestyle website on Thursday, Sept. 12, the pair enjoy hors d’oeuvres and champagne with a star-studded ensemble of party guests, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz and Rachel Zoe.
Stella’s legendary musician father Paul was also in attendance — at one point in the video, the former Beatle gives his designer daughter a hug and a cute peck on the top of her head. Paltrow’s family is similarly represented in the promotional video, with mom Blythe Danner laughing it up and doing the “Gangnam Style” dance alongside the Goop founder.
“We complement each other,” Paltrow previously told Women’s Wear Daily of the pair’s collaboration, which will feature black-and-white wardrobe staples that start at $800. “It was the right time. We’re very close friends. We were bringing two worlds together and it was important not to force them.”
The 40-year-old actress added that she had to give Stella an extra nudge to get her to agree to the idea. “I went to Stella and asked if she would collaborate with me,” she said. “She never had done a collaboration like this before until I strong-armed her.”
The video also shows several models showing off the designer’s looks, mingling with guests and playing croquet. Paltrow played an important role in curating the looks.
“I think of myself as a woman who is a lover of beautiful things,” Paltrow continued. “I’m very specific about my taste. …I can tweak a blazer and make it the perfect blazer.”
Added McCartney, “These designs are not going to blow anyone away. They are staple pieces.”
