Oct. 18 will be a sad, sad day for frumpy housewives, trashy-dressing ladies, eccentric hippies and nerdy wallflowers everywhere when What Not to Wear airs its final episode. After ten seasons of delivering stinging style critiques to the fashion-challenged, all in good humor and with much warmth, style arbiters Stacy London and Clinton Kelly will bid adieu to their beloved makeover show.
TLC's longest running primetime series featured more than 325 makeovers, including memorable transformations for celebrities like American Pie's Shannon Elizabeth, The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik, '80s teen sensation Tiffany, and Family Ties' Tina Yothers. But it was the everywoman style overhauls — during which insecure singletons or chubby moms learned that looking good can make them feel good — that were the show's bread and butter.
In the special two-hour episode, the witty, quippy pair impart sartorial lessons in arguably the most taste-challenged city in America — Las Vegas! Their final client? Dawn — "She looks like a hot mess!" London notes giddily as she spies their subject — who is shown wearing a tight black see-through lace pantsuit that bares her bra and panties underneath.
The episode — which will be bookended by the duo's cross-country road-trip from NYC to Sin City and a finale party during which the hosts and their WNTW contributors are touchingly toasted — airs at 9 pm on Friday, Oct. 18.
