Going public! New couple Nina Dobrev and Derek Hough were spotted out together for the first time since Us Weekly exclusively revealed last month that they are dating. The 24-year-old Vampire Diaries actress and 28-year-old Dancing With the Stars pro went to Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights with a couple friends in L.A. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The camera-shy couple, wearing similar outfits, tried to avoid photographers as they headed into the Roosevelt Hotel following their evening out. Dobrev wore a black tank top, skinny jeans and brown booties, while her new man sported a gray knit hat, gray button-up shirt, baggy jeans and brown boots.
The twosome were joined by actress Lily Collins and Hough's sister and Dobrev's best friend Julianne Hough, who inadvertently played matchmaker for the pair. "[Nina] was hanging a lot with Derek's sister Julianne," the insider told Us. "Then she fell for him."
Dobrev only just split with Ian Somerhalder, her boyfriend of three years and Vampire Diaries costar, in May of this year. In August, she told Us she was looking forward to being single for awhile. "I'm just discovering different sides of me and growing," she explained, "and then I'll figure out what I like in a man when I see it."
Alas, Dobrev seems to have fallen head-over-heels for Hough — and the feeling is mutual. "Derek is smitten with Nina," a source said. "He said he hasn't felt this way for a girl in a long time . . . Everyone approves!"
