Amanda Bynes Conservatorship Hearing Delayed Two Weeks

Amanda Bynes arrives at court on July 9, 2013 in New York City
The hearing on Amanda Bynes' parents' request for conservatorship over their daughter has been delayed while the actress is held under an extended 5150 psychiatric hold

Amanda Bynes' parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes, will have to wait a little longer for a ruling on their conservatorship request. Though a hearing regarding the matter was originally scheduled for Friday, July 26, the Ventura County judge presiding over the case said he needed more information — and some face-to-face time with Bynes — to render his decision.

"Conservatorship is a very structured, statutory process," he stated, noting that it was rare for such requests to be granted in cases where the conservatee was not present. And since Bynes is currently being held under an extended, involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold, the hearing has been rescheduled for Friday, Aug. 9, when she is set to be released.

As previously reported, Bynes was hospitalized earlier this week after she was found at the scene of a driveway fire in her hometown of Thousand Oaks, Calif. Bonnie Braaten, who owns the house where the fire was set, told Us Weekly that Bynes was questioned by the sheriff but "incapable of giving good answers."

"I have no idea what she was doing," Braaten told Us. "I don't even think she has an idea what she was doing."

Doctors are attempting to address that very issue. On Thursday, July 25, a judge granted a request to extend Bynes' 72-hour 5150 hold by 14 days, as psychiatric experts argued they need more time to properly diagnose the 27-year-old starlet.

Bynes will not be charged with a criminal offense in connection with the driveway fire, according to Capt. Don Aguilar of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, but her legal troubles are far from over. In addition to the conservatorship hearing on Aug. 9, she has a scheduled Aug. 26 court appearance in New York to face charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, and marijuana possession.
