Hay hay there! Chris Soules was officially announced as ABC's new Bachelor on Good Morning America, Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The Iowa farmer, 32, was a fan favorite during Andi Dorfman's recently-concluded Bachelorette season. The season 10 Bachelorette sobbed when she sent Soules home before the fantasy suite night.

"As soon as I realized that there wasn't that future with Chris," Dorfman told Us Weekly last month, "I think that was the appropriate time to go." Eventually, Dorfman ended up with another frontrunner, Josh Murray, and Soules gets a second chance at love.

"That's why I'm doing it," Soules said on the ABC morning program. "I believe in the process. I believe in what I went through on the previous show and that's why I'm doing it." He added, "I wouldn't do it if I didn't feel like that was a potential."

Yesterday morning, Us Weekly confirmed that Soules is the next Bachelor after his opponent, Arie Luyendyk Jr., tweeted that he was out of the running on Monday. "I'm not the Bachelor," Luyendyk Jr. tweeted. "Have fun on the farm people."

Soules was beloved by viewers for his romantic gestures, genuine search for love, and boyish good looks during Dorfman's season. He was considered by many Bachelor fans as the opposite of his predecessor, Juan Pablo Galavis, who incited controversy during season 18 of the show.

"My focus is going to be to make the girls that are on the show as comfortable as possible," Soules said on GMA. "Because that was my first initial challenge, was opening up to Andi. I'm going to do my best."

The hunky farmer added that he was thankful to be selected for the upcoming season 19 slot. "Coming from a small town, I'd never really expected to have this opportunity to be on either show, let alone be the lead on The Bachelor, so it's been awesome," Soules said Wednesday. "I'm humbled, flattered, grateful."
