He is so loved! Kate Hudson wished her son Ryder a happy 11th birthday in a sweet message posted to her Instagram account on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
“I can’t believe 11 years old has come so quickly,” Hudson, 35, wrote, alongside a photo of her eldest son surfing. “I am of course his mother but I am watching my young man turn into the most gracious, sensitive, brave, smart, funny and loving person.”
Proud mom Hudson then claimed in her message that the birthday boy was “everything a mother could hope for.” The Malibu native added: “Happy Birthday my Ryder man. You are my angel of life. #Eleven #BirthdayLove #SurferBoy.”
Hudson shares Ryder with her ex-husband Chris Robinson, whom she divorced in 2007. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress also co-parents 3-year-old son Bing with Muse rocker Matt Bellamy, from whom she called off her engagement last December.
After Us Weekly confirmed that Hudson and Bellamy had called it quits, his rep released a statement saying the two were still on good terms. Indeed, the two were seen grocery shopping together in L.A. last Sunday, Jan. 4. Prior to that, the amicable exes were photographed in Aspen, Colorado before the holidays.
Hudson spoke about what it was like to raise two sons from two separate fathers during an interview last July. “I wouldn’t say I’m conventional, but then again what is conventional these days?” the sunny star noted on The View. “I’ve got two children from two different fathers so that’s definitely unconventional.”
As for her skills as a mother? “I’m actually a strict parent,” Hudson claimed. “I’m very strict. I’m strict when it comes to manners. I don’t like—think kids get too much too fast.” She joked: “So Ryder of course wants a cell phone like every 10-year-old kid now. It starts around 10 and I’m just like ‘You can get a pager.’ He can get a pager when he’s 12.”
