Kendra Wilkinson Says Hank Baskett Was “Very, Very Lost,” “Deserves a Second Chance”

Kendra Wilkinson opened up to Access Hollywood about her marriage to Hank Baskett in the wake of his cheating scandal, saying he was "very, very lost" for a while and "deserves a second chance"

It's not over till it's over. Kendra Wilkinson hasn't yet forgiven Hank Baskett for his alleged infidelity when she was eight months pregnant, but she's beginning to realize that there's more to the man than his mistakes. Appearing on Access Hollywood Live on Thursday, Oct. 2, the Kendra on Top star opened up about the status of her relationship with her estranged husband, telling Billy Bush and Kit Hoover that she's not quite ready to throw in the towel.

"Life is too short," she began. "And this man who I loved for six years, I believe deserves — and everyone around us…everyone knows that this man deserves a second chance if he did make a mistake. And right now I'm working that out."

Asked whether divorce is still a possibility, she replied, "I honestly don't have a decision right now. This has been a lot to handle, and a lot for me to think about, especially after giving birth to a baby. "But at the end of the day," she continued, "[Hank] comes from an amazing place, an amazing background. He's a perfect guy. He's never done me wrong. He's not like some douchebag. He's never treated me wrong. And he's an amazing father."

Indeed, Baskett's bond with their kids — son Hank IV, 4, and daughter Alijah, 5 months — is a big part of why Wilkinson, 29, is trying to make things work with him. "Hank [Jr.] only saw one fight since all this happened, and it was the first one. It was when the news hit me and everything," the former Girls Next Door star explained.

"That was probably the worst one he could have seen. I kicked Hank out, and I saw it in little Hank's eyes," she recalled. "I mean, he loves his father. And at that moment, my son was looking at me like I was the bad guy. And I had to make a really quick decision to bring Hank back, because little Hank would have been mad."

Wilkinson also opened up about her relationship with Baskett before the cheating scandal broke, admitting to Bush and Hoover that she wasn't always emotionally available to him. "There were real moments where Hank did come to me and try to talk to me about some things. He was struggling for a little bit. He was struggling," she said. "He was going through a lot of stuff that nobody knows about. And he was trying to talk to me about it, and I would not deal with it."

The WEtv star wouldn't specify what exactly her husband was dealing with but says "he was very lost" for a while. "I wish I would have had it in my heart to slow down a little bit and listen," she told Access Hollywood.

"He's in a lot of therapy now," she added. "He's trying to figure everything out and figure out a way to explain everything. I don't get it, you know?"

Surprisingly, it helps that they're going through all of this on TV. "It's actually putting a rush on communicating," Wilkinson said of documenting their troubles on her reality series. "If it wasn't for the show, we would probably be procrastinating and spending a lot of time apart."

Another thing that has helped? Breastfeeding her baby girl. "I believe that breastfeeding my daughter was what helped me through all of this," she shared. "Because when you stress out, your milk doesn't come in. I wanted to breastfeed so bad, so I just had to relax and breathe."
