Ernie Reyes Jr., aka Keno in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, is suffering from kidney failure and needs a transplant

Ernie Reyes Jr. is said to be "fighting for his life" due to kidney failure at age 43, his family revealed on a GoFundMe page in his name. The action star, who's perhaps best known to fans as Keno in 1991's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, is in dire need of a transplant, and was recently hospitalized in the ICU.

"Ernie is currently undergoing dialysis treatment 3 times per week for 4 hours a day while waiting for a kidney transplant," his sister Destiny Reyes wrote on GoFundMe. "This is a very challenging time not only for Ernie Jr.'s immediate family, but a challenging time for our family as well."

With that in mind, Destiny is trying to raise $75,000 to help pay Ernie Jr.'s medical bills. "Please be aware that he needs support during this time of need and recovery of his life," she implored potential donors.

The GoFundMe page — which has raised more than $37,000 so far — notes the actor's many credits, including Last Dragon, Sidekicks, TMNT, The Rundown, and NCIS: Los Angeles. "My brother has spent his entire childhood and adult life fighting in films and television, but now his battle has gone from the screen to reality, fighting for his life," Destiny wrote.

"Regardless of where you have seen or heard of Ernie Reyes Jr., he has impacted people's lives all over the world through his extraordinary performances in television and film," she continued. "Thank you for your support."
