Kanye West: I’m So Boring, All I Do Is Record Music and Take North to Tap Class

Kanye West spoke about his new album and his family in an interview with Hot 97

Kanye West has officially traded bottle service and clubbing for toddler birthday parties and carpools. The Grammy winner, 38, gave an update on his formerly wild life in a new interview with Hot 97.

West called in to the New York City radio station to address recent rumors that he kicked kids out of a Chuck E. Cheese’s to take over the space with his family. He quickly shot down the rumors and went on to tell the real story of how his days have been spent as of late.

“Right now I just want to take some time to really focus on my album… focus on North’s birthday, just focus on my family and then be able to recharge, energize and then bring something of value,” he told DJs Nessa and Ebro. “I’m completely boring actually. I don’t wanna kill the blogs and the media takeout and everything, I’m so boring.”

“All I do is go to the studio every day. At this point I’m like, ‘I’m ridin’ through the ‘burbs with no woes,'” the star continued, putting a spin on the lyrics to Drake‘s hit song “Know Yourself.” “I’m not going nowhere with no woes.’ I’m not at the club… I’m never at 1OAK… I’m never gonna be nowhere… I gotta focus on the kids. I gotta take ’em to tap class, and you know, all type of gym class, where they do all types of swings.”

West’s daughter, North West, who turns 2 on Monday, June 15, will soon become a big sister. Kim Kardashian announced earlier this month that she is pregnant with the couple’s second child.

“I’m just living my life, man,” West added to Hot 97. “I’m having a good time. I’m with my family and I’m getting the opportunity to create, you know, work on my clothes, work on my films, work on DONDA, work on the next album, work on it slowly, make it an art project, deliver the innovation that I know can and that I’ve consistently done since 808 and Dark Fantasy.”

“I’m in my own zone,” he continued. “I can’t walk around trying to defend myself and chime in on everything like, y’all be doing, y’all be calling my daughter’s name weird like her name should be like some name that you’ve heard before and all that. I don’t like the state that [it’s] weird when something is innovative and fresh.”

As to the alleged Chuck E. Cheese’s incident that inspired West’s conversation in the first place, the “New Slaves” rapper said that he is now accustomed to rumors and recognizes his larger-than-life reputation.

“People will say, ‘Wow, you’re like, nice!'” he explained. “Like, I’m walking around actually turning over furniture everywhere I go just because I had a period in my life where I expressed my frustrations at not being able to create in other fields. I did interviews about it and I was able to create in other fields and I killed it. Obviously what I was stressing about was correct. Maybe a lot of people that might not have that aspiration can see… misinterpret my passion and misinterpret my understanding of the opportunities we should have as being overly aggressive. If the situation ain’t right, you have to be.”
