One maid a milking!
To top off her electric blue Giorgio Armani dress, multi-nominee Iggy Azalea rocked a bold take on the classic braided milkmaid crown at the 2015 Grammy Awards in L.A. on Sunday, Feb. 8—and, as it turns out, she had a very practical reason for choosing the, shall we say, unique hairstyle.
“[I chose it] for simplicity,” Azalea, 24, told Us Weekly on the red carpet. “And so I didn’t have to wear extensions.”

Fair enough—though we couldn’t call anything about this style simple! The plaited updo boasted two thick French braids, which were piled on top of each other to create a sizable, golden crown (which sparked its fair share of memes—see them here).
But just in case anyone thought the Aussie rapper, who was nominated for four Grammys, regretted her intricate hairstyle—some tweeters likened the look to a basket, others to an American Girl doll—Azalea took to Instagram to praise her glam squad.
“Oh! And once again I must mention, I f—king loved my hair. The world is full of basics,” she captioned a red carpet shot, then tacked on the hashtag, “#ByeBye.”
