Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is known for its ripped-from-the-headlines plots, sometimes involving celebrities. (Who can forget the Chris Brown and Rihanna or Paula Deen-inspired episodes?) But it seems NBC’s long-running crime drama may be bringing on a legit pop star to make a guest appearance soon.
Series lead Mariska Hargitay teased to Entertainment Tonight that none other than SVU megafan Taylor Swift may be showing up on the procedural. “We talked about it,” the actress, who has played Olivia Benson since Season 1, admitted of her younger pal. “We’re going to wait until the end of [Swift’s 1989 World] tour to see how it goes. But it’s in the air.”
Swift, 25, is such a big fan of the show that she even named one of her cats after the actress’ fan-favorite tough-as-nails character. Not only that, Hargitay, 51, has been inducted into the “Wildest Dreams” singer’s squad, and joined the songstress on stage during a concert in June.
Hargitay also appeared in the singer’s “Bad Blood” music video, along with Swift’s numerous other celebrity pals, so it’s only fair for the singer to return the favor on SVU!
Law & Order: SVU kicks off Season 17 on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
