What happened in Las Vegas is happening again for Courtney Stodden and her husband, Doug Hutchinson. The reality personality, who became famous in 2011 for marrying Hutchinson, 35 years her senior, when she was only 16 in Sin City, tells Us Weekly they plan on renewing their vows early next year.
“We’re still in planning mode,” the buxom blonde, 21, tells Us while attending PETA’s 35th Anniversary Gala at the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday, Sept. 30. “I can finally [plan] it myself, you know, because I was 16 and I had to have it signed [by my parents], so I think finally not having any parents involved and just doing it myself is going to be great.”
Stodden is also excited about saying “I do” outside of Sin City.
“I want to do a big thing, because, you know, our first time around we married in Las Vegas next to a Chevron — it was not that glamorous! So I really want to play it up. I want to do the whole Cinderella thing,” she gushed.
Although the couple are still in “very early” stages of planning, Stodden knows that she wants to wear a mermaid-style dress and she’s leaning toward “kind of an old Hollywood” look.
The controversial couple tied the knot in May 2011 and made headlines for their age difference. Prior to rekindling in August 2014, the lovebirds legally separated for nine months. (Stodden has appeared on Big Brother and, alongside Hutchinson, on VH1’s Couples Therapy.)
“She kind of was exploring being 19 and being alone and exploring the life of a 19 year old,” her mom, Krista Keller, told Us at the time of the then 19-year-old. “It was a legal separation, and she started dating and started going out with different guys, and then she had someone to compare Doug to. She really realized that she has a really great husband…her first choice was her choice!”
