Princess Charlotte is to be christened on Sunday, July 5, at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Kensington Palace has told Us Weekly.
Prince William and Kate Middleton's month-old baby girl will be christened by the head of the Church of England, The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their two children, Prince George, 22 months, and Princess Charlotte, have been enjoying time out of the spotlight since the royal birth excitement, spending as much time as they can at their new family home, Amner Hall, on the Queen's Sandringham Estate.
“Going back to Anmer was the moment they felt they could really breathe after the media frenzy at the hospital and Kensington Palace," a source told Us recently. "Anmer is their safe haven. They love the house so much. Kensington Palace will always be their main base, especially in the future and when the kids start schools, but right now Anmer suits their needs. It’s private, away from prying eyes and their absolute dream home."
Unlike his little sister, Prince George was baptized in the center of London, in the small and intimate Chapel Royal at St James' Palace. His christening was a private affair with senior royals, four Middleton family members, and the seven godparents and their spouses among the 22 guests.
The baby prince wore a replica of a gown worn by Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, made by Angela Kelly, personal assistant, and senior dresser to the Queen. The replacement was commissioned in 2004 when the original became too fragile for further use, and it is expected that Princess Charlotte will wear the same.
