Andrew Getty was under the influence of meth prior to his March 2015 death, TMZ reports, citing the autopsy. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner, J. Paul Getty’s grandson’s official cause of death was a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and the drug was a contributing factor.
TMZ reports the heir had toxic levels of meth in his system and that his ex-girlfriend, Lanessa DeJonge, told authorities about Getty’s alleged addiction when they arrived at the scene. Concerta, Adderall, Norco, Dainabol, and Trenabol Acetate prescriptions were also reportedly found at Getty’s home.
Per TMZ, the coroner’s report also states that investigators found suspicious text messages on Getty’s cell phone alluding to purchasing drugs. One text allegedly read: “Lemme know if you need something. Imma grab the good stuff in a minute.” 
Prior to his death, Getty had secured a restraining order against DeJonge, who found him unresponsive at his home. In court documents obtained by TMZ, Getty claimed that DeJonge knew about a medical condition he suffered, that when combined with stress, caused his blood pressure to escalate, creating a “grave risk of death.” Getty claimed that DeJonge would exploit information about him, demanding money and property.
Getty, whose family is worth an estimated $5 billion, was 47 years old. In the coroner’s preliminary assessment, Getty’s death appeared to be “natural (causes) or an accident.”
