Hilary Duff's marriage to ex-husband Mike Comrie may be so yesterday, but the "Sparks" singer said in a new interview with Z100's Elvis Duran that she is in no hurry to find love again. Duff, 27, caught up with the radio DJ on Thursday, June 18, just two days after she debuted her fifth studio album, Breathe In. Breathe Out.
"I'm not bitter about love or anything like that," explained the former child star, who announced her separation from Comrie in January 2014. "I'm so busy right now — honestly I don’t have time to date and to be building some kind of a relationship."
"I have a 3-year-old, I have a new album, I'm sure you know what it takes to put a record out and make it work, and build a tour and shoot a TV show, all this stuff!" the mother to son Luca continued to Duran. "If it came my way and it was easy, sure I’d be into it but it’s not something I'm stressed about."
Duff did give casual dating a go as she worked on her big return to the music industry, joining Tinder to check out the guys on the dating app.
"[There was a] challenge of doing something that was so normal, that the rest of the world is a part of, that seems like something I could never do, or someone like me could never do," the Lizzie McGuire alum said of online dating. "I was like, well, I absolutely can and will and I don’t care what people say! So it wasn't like I got on like, looking for love and looking for a man like, 'I need a man!' It was like, this is funny and entertaining to me and then I actually got really surprised. There's normal, cute guys on here that have great personalities and just want to meet people!"
While she may not have a love interest in her life at the moment, Duff does have her eyes on one special man: her son, Luca. The singer has been raising her little one in her adopted borough of Brooklyn, and jetting off on vacations for mother-son quality time.
"I am a beach girl, I love the beach," she began to Z100. "It's slightly challenging because Luca doesn't like the beach, he does not like sand. So we have a bit of a battle until I drag him down there and then he has a blast. But I'm like, 'No, you like it!' and he's like, 'I don't!' and I'm like, 'You do, you do! Okay?'"
One such trip in his Duff's future once she finishes her whirlwind press tour for Breathe In. Breathe Out.
"I [recently] did a 20-hour press day," she explained. "I forget that I'm old now and I don't have energy that I used to… A 20-hour press day? I can't hang like that anymore! I used to. It's been a lot but you know what, I'm pumped it’s all been really good stuff and I'm about to take like a four-day vacation, so there's a light at the end of the tunnel!"
