Girl power! Transgender star Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, has found a new pal in Laverne Cox. Jenner, who made her debut on the July 2015 cover of Vanity Fair, thanked the transgender Orange Is the New Black actress for her support with a sweet tweet on Wednesday, June 17.

“@LaverneCox, you are fierce and fabulous! Your support means the world. Thank you for all that you do for the community. #TransIsBeautiful,” the 65-year-old Olympic gold medalist wrote.

Cox, who has become known as the first openly transgender star to be nominated for an Emmy, penned a touching note on Tumblr earlier this month, giving Jenner a round of applause for being so brave.

"On May 29, 2014, the issue of Time Magazine which proclaimed the 'Transgender Tipping Point' was revealed with me on the cover. June 1, 2015 a year and 3 days later, Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover was revealed proclaiming #CallMeCaitlyn I am so moved by all the love and support Caitlyn is receiving," Cox gushed. "It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally."

"Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful but what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul," Cox continued in her post. "The ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities. The love and devotion she has for her family and that they have for her. Her courage to move past denial into her truth so publicly. These things are beyond beautiful to me.”

The 31-year-old actress told Us Weekly at OrangeCon on June 11 that she’s looking forward to the ESPYS, where Jenner is being honored. "What a day. I was getting ready earlier and my hairstylist said, 'When he was a kid, it was just not like this.' We were watching television and they were talking about Caitlyn and they were talking about LGBT folks who’ve come out on YouTube,” she revealed to Us. “The world is so much more welcoming for folks like us. So that’s really beautiful."
