Eighteen years after the release of their debut album, Spice, the UK quintet beloved as the Spice Girls are still going strong — just behind the scenes, for now. “We’re one big happy family,” Mel B (aka “Scary Spice”) said in a March 31 interview with HuffPost Live, confirming that she’s just as tight as ever with her bandmates Victoria Beckham (“Posh”), Emma Bunton (“Baby”), Melanie Chisholm (“Sporty”) and Geri Halliwell (“Ginger”).

“It’s easy for people to want to tear us down, but the reality is, we’re five girls who launched something big — girl power — and we’re still in touch to this day,” mom-of-three Mel B, 39, told HuffPost Live, adding that these days her catch-ups with the gals tend to include updates on their children. Back in the day, said Brown, “we were just crazy ladies on a mission.”

Brown told HuffPost Live she’ll forever be supportive of her “sisters,” and most recently caught up with Beckham, 40, in London. “Her dresses are amazing, and she’s amazing,” said the singer.
