In a viral video of what turned out to be an amazing lovefest, a 14-year-old boy named Lucas Etter is shown solving a Rubik’s Cube in under five seconds. Etter, who was competing in the River Hall 2015 competition in Clarksville, Md., on Saturday, Nov. 21, beat the previous world record of 5.25 seconds.
In the video — which almost looks sped up — Etter’s hands work insanely quickly to complete the cube in a record-breaking 4.90 seconds. After solving the cube, Etter jumps for joy, and his fellow contestants join in on congratulating him, whipping out their iPhones to record the moment while offering him hugs and high fives.
According to website Five Thirty Eight, the World Cube Association makes sure all is fair, and “the colorful cubes are randomly scrambled according to a computer program, and a solver has 15 seconds to inspect a cube before racing to spin it back to its organized state.”
