Catherine Giudici Addresses Pregnancy Prank After Backlash: “My Heart Goes Out to All the Women Struggling With Fertility”

Catherine Giudici
Catherine Giudici (sort of) apologized her fake pregnancy April Fools' Day Instagram post after receiving backlash from fans: "My heart goes out to all the women struggling with fertility."

Bachelor star Catherine Giudici found herself in some scorching hot water on April Fools' Day after she joked that she was pregnant and expecting her first child with Sean Lowe.

In the offending post, Giudici, 28, shared a photo of a woman's body with a tiny protruding baby bump, captioning it: "17 weeks" and tagging Lowe as the burgeoning belly.

The season 17 Bachelor winner's rep confirmed to Us Weekly that the post was indeed an April Fools' Day prank. However, many of Giudici's followers did not find the update funny and railed against the reality star for being "offensive" and "immature."

"Lame…not funny," one commenter wrote. "One if the worst 'April Fools.'#infertilitysensitivity."

Hours later, Giudici cleared the air in a separate Instagram post, featuring a graphic of a nude woman with a burger inside her stomach. "Congratulations! It's a burger!" the meme read, alongside an extended caption about the misunderstanding.

"I LOVE BURGERS! I LOVE PRANKS! I LOVE LIFE!" Giudici wrote. "About my earlier post, it was intended to be lighthearted and fun and certainly not insensitive. My heart goes out to all the women struggling with fertility."

Giudici told Us Weekly last fall that she "definitely" wanted to have babies in the next year. "Eventually," she told Us at an NYC event. "Not like in the next couple months, but we're definitely thinking about it in the next year or so."

She also told Us at the 2014 Emmys that for now, she and Lowe have been focusing on their marriage first. "We talk about it but we don’t have that light switch that goes on yet," she explained. "We are cherishing our married life right now without kids but we are excited for when we do."
