Sorry, Mr. President! Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) has a new entry in her Rolodex of boyfriends, and she’s finally getting her groove back after breaking things off with both Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and his frenemy Jake Ballard (Scott Foley). Scandal‘s resident problem-solver was on the rebound this week, and it’s time to get caught up on everything you need to know about her complicated love life.
What’s The Story, Morning Glory?
Time for some stats on Olivia’s boyfriend. His name? Franklin Russell (Brian White). His job? Unclear, but knowing Scandal it’s safe to assume Liv’s rebound has some secrets. Either way, Miss Pope seemed slightly nervous about introducing another man into the mix, especially since her two other boyfriends are the most high maintenance stage-five clingers ever. Of course, we can’t forget Franklin’s one huge red flag: he showed up at the end of this episode with none other than Olivia’s dad, Rowan (Joe Morton) by his side — and Rowan happens to be the head of B613! Considering that Olivia’s pop is the very definition of evil, seeing him cozy up to Franklin isn’t exactly a good sign. This situation is the opposite of handled!
Jake Ballard Goes Rogue
Speaking of Liv’s boyfriends, Jake Ballard has more important things on his mind than his ex. This professional hit man was determined to stop David Rosen (Joshua Malina) from taking down B613 this week — but there’s a catch. Sure, it seemed like Jake went into murder-happy survival mode and killed a bunch of former B613 employees, but in reality he and Liv were working together. They even discovered that Rosen’s secretary was a secret member of B613 sent to kill them. So, the good news is that Jake isn’t a deranged psycho. The bad news is that B613’s thirsty for Gladiator blood.
Fitz Joins Team Mellie
It’s a family affair over in the West Wing! Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) lovably trashy sister Harmony (Lauren Bowles) visited D.C. this week, and she brought a pickup truck full of trouble with her. Cyrus (Jeff Perry) predicted that Mellie and Harmony’s constant bickering would finally drive Fitz away (straight into the arms of Olivia, no doubt!), but surprisingly Fitz offered his wife a helping hand. Looks like POTUS is still pretty devoted to his leading lady, which means Liv might be on the back burner. You know, until the next time she walks into the Oval Office for a business meeting and ends up accidentally attached to Fitz’s lips.
Scandal airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
