Fit for a princess-to-be! Tamera Mowry-Housley had just two requirements for her second baby shower: lots of pink and a “tutu tablecloth.” Fortunately for her, party planner to the stars Mindy Weiss was on the case, and was able to turn those two directives into a sweet and simple bash for the pregnant co-host of The Real, who’s expecting a daughter in early July.
As detailed exclusively in the April 20 issue of Us Weekly, Mowry, 36 — already mom to son Aden, 2, with husband Adam Housley — was feted by 50 friends and family members (including brother Tahj, 28, and twin sister Tia) at Malibu’s Hotel Casa del Mar on April 4. The theme of the afternoon? Pink, pink, and more pink.
Weiss tells Us she used more than 1,000 roses from Mark’s Garden to set the scene for the elegant event. Pink balloons (from Glam Fete) and 100 flower-shaped cookies adorned the linen-draped tables, along with pink cloth napkins tied into bows and fastened with diaper pins. There was also — per Mowry-Housley’s request — a tutu-like covering on the mom-to-be’s head table.
In keeping with the theme, guests sipped on pink lemonade and pink champagne as baby sliders and crudite were passed around the room. For lunch, they feasted on egg-free Caesar salad (Mowry-Housley’s favorite!), free-range roasted chicken, grilled fresh veggies, and baskets of fries (which the star has been craving throughout her second pregnancy). There was also a table full of desserts, including cupcakes, cookies, marshmallow pops, and brownies.
The main attractions, though, were the treats from Joanie and Leigh’s Cakes: a pink velvet “bun in the oven” masterpiece for Mowry-Housley and her guests, and a chocolate-chip marble Superman confection for little Aden.
“I have a feeling he’s going to be a great big brother,” Mowry-Housley tells Us exclusively of her firstborn. “He loves children, he loves playing with kids, and he’s definitely a helper already. He’s so cute, oh my gosh.”
Entertainment-wise, friends organized a game of Baby Jeopardy, while Weiss set up a headband bar for the ladies. (The party was co-ed.) There was also a heartfelt toast from dad-to-be Adam, 43.
“He said I looked stunning, which made me feel really good because I’m seven-and-a-half months pregnant,” Mowry-Housley quipped of her longtime love, who “wants to have four kids.” (His wife wants to stop at two.) “I felt like the princess of the ball!”
