Kevin Bacon probably didn’t receive a “World’s Best Dad” mug on his first Father’s Day. With the recent holiday on his mind, the Cop Car star, 56, revealed to Vulture that he made a big parenting mistake back in 1989 right after his son, Travis, was born.
“When my son was born [wife Kyra Sedgwick and I] took him back from the hospital. We locked a newborn in the car with the keys in the car and the motor running,” Bacon told Vulture at BAMcinemaFest on June 21. “A guy from the garage put his fist through the window and broke in because my wife and I were obviously panicked. My publicist is laughing at me. We were new parents. You know, it was hard.”
But after that incident, Bacon and Sedgwick, who married in 1988, went on to raise Travis, a musician who also happened to attend the BAMcinemaFest event in support of his dad’s film, Cop Car. (Note: He looked alive and well for those who were concerned.)
The couple are also parents to daughter Sosie, 23, an aspiring actress.
“I think that we just really, really enjoy each other’s company,” Bacon told Larry King of his marriage to Sedgwick in 2013. “I think that we are kind of meant to be together.”
