Watch out, Will Smith! On Monday, Feb. 2, Jimmy Fallon did a spot-on parody of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song rap, personalizing it for The Tonight Show’s temporary move from NYC to Los Angeles.
“This is a story all about how my life got flipped turned upside down,” he begins, sitting on the same throne Smith does in the original. “And I’d like to take a minute if that’s okay, I’ll tell you how I brought the Tonight Show back out to L.A.”
Recreating the fun clip, from the basketball scene to telling the cab driver (played by Smith’s longtime collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff) “Smell ya later!,” Fallon, 40, delighted his cheering audience. Actor Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Will’s cousin Carlton, also made a cameo to do “The Carlton” — a dance move perfected and mad famous during the show’s six seasons from 1990 to 1996.
Beloved SNL alum Fallon has been on fire lately, hosting a post-Super Bowl show that featured a star-studded rendition of “We Are the Champions,” and an epic lip sync battle between Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart.
