You sure can! Ryan Reynolds very eloquently joked on Twitter about spending the morning watching after his 8-month-old baby daughter, James, on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
“Nothing better than spending an entire morning staring into my baby daughter’s eyes,” Reynolds, 38, wrote, “whispering, ‘I can’t do this.'”
The Deadpool actor and his wife, Blake Lively, welcomed their first child together last December. In an interview with HuffPost Live last month, Reynolds explained why he prefers to abstain from gushing over his little girl, unlike many of his Hollywood counterparts.
“[It’s] sort of annoying to [tweet about your child] publicly,” Reynolds told the site. “So I usually go the other way, and write silly jokes about how my daughter’s terrible with her art… I had a friend who said, ‘My kid is 2, and already quoting Chekhov.’ And I was like, ‘Your kid’s a genius, and probably an a–hole.'”
Reynolds said in reality, his baby girl is the apple of his eye. “Everybody thinks their son or daughter is God’s gift to air. And in their home, they are,” the Green Lantern star said last month. “When I’m in my private moments, I look at my daughter and go, ‘You are the most amazing creature I’ve ever seen in my life.'”
Earlier this month, Reynolds sat down with Conan O’Brien and gushed about his family — with plenty of humor, of course.
“Right now she’s starting to say ‘mama,'” he noted of his daughter. “There’s an unfair advantage there. It turns out that breasts are actually a life support system and the child seems to gravitate towards the breasts. I’m just the breastless a–hole wandering around the room and getting in her sightline every once in a while.”
He also revealed what it was like in the delivery room with Lively. “I mean, I was there for the conception of the child, so I thought the least I could do is be there in the delivery room,” he dished. “My wife is the real, I mean she is a mercenary. At one point in the middle of the delivery, the doctor’s cell phone went off and she said, ‘Oh, no. Go ahead, take a personal call. Feel free.’ She was cracking jokes in the delivery room. She may have been on drugs, but I don’t ask personal questions.”
